During the second week of each month, one of NHTC's programs will be introduced to all employees. The goal is for us to learn more about the different areas in which our staff work.
January's program is 1005 Canyon (submitted by Chris Schlup)
1005 Canyon was purchased in 1976 for $45,000 and served the first six people supported by NHTC. It is now one of the seven residences owned by NHTC and continues to be home for six people supported.

During the third week of each month, a member of the Program of the Month will be introduced as the Kool Kid of the month. The January Kool Kid is Audrey Heckenlaible.
My Name is Audrey Heckenlaible. I have worked at 1005 for almost two years and have greatly enjoyed my time here.
I grew up in Spearfish and attended Spearfish High School. On my days off I enjoy spending time with my beautiful daughter Zayli J. In the summer I enjoy hiking and fun in the sun.
I love working at NHTC because of the relationships I have built here, with both staff and people supported. I enjoy coming to work every day and seeing all the smiley faces.

Blue Diamond winners are selected during the monthly open management meetings. The nominations are based on outstanding stories about NHTC DSPs. The stories can be about activities done after hours, positive representation of NHTC, special attention given to people supported by the agency, or attitude towards work. The stories for Blue Diamond nominations are a “snapshot in time” based on a story being shared, NOT recognition of work habits, ethics, etc. Staff and management present at the meeting, vote on the most positive story shared.
