Northern Hills Training Center Job Shop
The Northern Hills Job Shop helps people find employment. The goal is to help people find and prepare for the job of their choice. The Job Shop currently offers 7 work crew opportunities, which employ 47 people supported. The work crews are available as a transition step for people who someday would like to work independently in the community. People can choose from the following:
- A cleaning crew that works at a variety of different community businesses

- A crew that cleans the city park bathrooms
- An evening cleaning crew
- Crews that works Spearfish and Belle Fourche
- A crew that works for Black Hills Dairy
- A crew that works at Spearfish Wood Products
- A crew that runs a thrift store called Treasure Island
- NHTC's home and office cleaning business/cre

All crews are supervised by a job coach.
As a result of prevocational and vocational training and skill acquisition, there are approximately 21 people who work independently in the community. They receive only limited job coaching and assistance.
The Job Shop takes referrals from Vocational Rehabilitation in Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Sturgis and the surrounding communities. The employment specialist works with these individuals to perform evaluations or to find employment. Northern Hills training Center is an employment network thro ugh the Ticket to Work Program. This allows the agency to work with any person in the community who receives Social Security benefits to help them find employment. To learn more about this program, go to http://www.yourtickettowork.com.
